Email followup is an option to send your email again to your user segment based on their actions. When it is sent at the right time to the right set of users, it can significantly improve your campaign’s final results. Step 1 - Create Follow Up Email:

In email campaigns, there are two ways to create a follow up email. 

  1. Campaign Display Page
  2. After email schedule is completed, there is an option to setup a follow up email

In the campaign listing/display page, ‘Send Follow Up Email’ option is enabled for email campaigns that have been set up. For campaigns that are still in draft status, this option is not available.

In this second method, once an email campaign is scheduled, there is a ‘setup follow up email’ button to create a follow up for this campaign.

Step 2 - Choose Segment:

Once you start creating a follow up, you have to select your target audience. This target audience can only be a part of your existing audience for this email campaign. You cannot select users who are not recipients of your initial email campaign. 

You can create a new segment based on the actions performed by recipients during the initial campaign. Based on clicks, opens, delivery, orders etc, you can filter users and send a follow up email to achieve your goals.

Select Campaign: Select Campaign option helps you to select a specific campaign. Based on the results of this campaign, users will be selected to create a target audience group for the campaign.

Campaign Activity: Campaign Activity gives you different types of action taken by the users. Whenever they perform a specific action, they  get captured. It helps you to segment and filter users based on different actions.

Once you add or change a filter, you can click the ‘Update Recipients Count’ button to update the number of recipients in your new list for follow up email. When your list is finalized, you can click the ‘Create Followup’ button to complete the creation of follow up email.

Step 3 - Schedule Follow Up:

You can schedule your follow up after a specific number of days or after a specific number of hours. Once you complete this, you can finish scheduling your follow up email. Follow up email is delivered to your recipients automatically during the mentioned time frame.

Step 4 - Follow Up status:

Once a follow up email has been set, status of follow up email is changed to ‘Follow Up Email Set’. Once the email schedule is complete, status gets changed to ‘Follow Up Email Sent’. Follow Up email has a separate report section along with data display in your campaign display screen.

There is a separate filter in the reports section to view data related to follow up emails. This report also provides the overall report which includes both the initial email campaign and the follow up email campaign. To know more about reports, please click here.
